Mouse Hunt (house?)

Last night Anna attempted to trap the mouse (mice?). Well, strike one. I am not sure if we didn't set them right but nothing happened. What has happened is that a little trail of ants found the peanut butter on the trap and took it with them. I guess ants are not heavy enough to snap the trap. So.....it was suggested to try poison and I do not really like this option as the the little mousies can decide to expire in the walls. This a VERY bad thing. But, I resorted to that today. We will reset the traps as well and see if some mouse hunter knows the proper way to set them. Have I mentioned I hate mice? I do have a few stuffed rats (not real ones) that sometimes lurk behind couches and chairs. Stay tuned.

Those sticky traps aren't as good for larger critters, but they work pretty well for mice...I'd use poison only as a last resort... Pr G.

We tried those once and they didn't seem to work too well. Maybe country mice have a better communication system. I am going to get better traps today as Walmart only had those wooden things. I need willing mouse hunters too......

I just want to get rid of them and get rid of the welcome mat.

We've used poison before, and though I'm always sure they must die in their cubby-holes, it never seems to be a problem - in fact, they seem predisposed to wander out into the open at the onset of the poison.

I once was in the family room with my sisters watching a movie, when I lay my hand down on the floor and felt something fuzzy. I looked, and there was a poor, sick mouse, its legs wobbling feebly and its mouth opening and closing. Something about the poison makes them go kind of crazy, anyway.

As for conventional traps, do ants eat cheese?

Mr.H says you have to tie the bait on. They will just lick peanut butter off the wooden type. I have the good ones now and am ready for battle. We know about crazy mice too. Remind me to tell a lovely, the H's had guests over one time and a mouse made an appearance. Too long for a comment response. Ah, country living.

I'm with Nat. When I've used poison, they seem to run out into the open to die. And even if they don't, mice have little bodies. Maybe I don't have a very sensitive nose, but it seems like only a week or so of a vaguely bad smell if I can't find the thing.

You can buy plastic pre-baited mouse traps. The directions say emphatically that if you try to add more bait, they won't work as well. That puzzles me, because I can't see anything where the bait goes. Is it a smell that attracts the mice? You could try those. They might be a few cents more, but traps are cheap.

I hate mice too. Did I ever tell you about the time I reached into a cabinet and a mouse used my arm as an exit ramp??? It still gives me the heebie-jeebies to think of it!

AAAhhhhhh!!!! yuk. The mouse tales we could tell. We could write a whole book just about mice. I remember the time when a mouse did your phone line in. That was humorous. We have flying squirrel stories too. I have never had a mouse touch me but I did eat breakfast with one. That story is famous.
